SAG 2019 (South Asian Games) summary


                         


The 13th edition of SAG 2019 (South Asian Games) were held in the city of Kathmandu and Pokhara
from December 1-10, 2019.There were a total of 7 nations participating with the number of athletes being 2,715.The opening ceremony was held in December 1st and was officially opened by Bidhya Devi Bhandari (President of Nepal).

These games featured 26 sports with cricket returning after 8 years.Golf and Karate were the two sports added by the hosts as their choice.All events must include a minimum of four participating teams otherwise it will not be held.paragliding which was scheduled to debut,was removed as only two nations (Nepal and Pakistan) had registered competitors.

 


The results of the 10 days long(Dec 1-10) games came to an end and the medal tally were as follows:

The 13th edition of SAG came to and end with lot of drama and suspense.The audience presence and support made it more exciting.The host nation(Nepal) themselves had an amazing performance and result,ranking second in medal tally only to India.The next major multi-sport official event of 14th SAG will be held in 2022 in Karachi,Pakistan.
